SMCL holds 35th commencement

Commencement speaker Fr. Xavier Alpasa shares his rags to riches story.

Saint Michael’s College of Laguna ushered 254 graduates from the College Division, April 2.

Graduating class from the School of Business Administration, School of Education and Liberal Arts, School of Nursing, Institute of Computer Studies, and Institute of Hospitality Management and Allied Courses gathered at St. Theodore Hall Sunday to receive their diplomas from the College President Dr. Lourdes Almeda-Sese.

Fr. Xavier ‘Javy’ Alpasa, SJ, Jesuit social entrepreneur,  founder of Rags2Riches, president of Loyola College of Culion and Isla Culion Hotel Maya delivered the commencement speech.

Fr. Alpasa encouraged the Michaeleans to appreciate the commitment of the parents and benefactors to send the students to college.
He also imparted his own experiences while he was a student who was given opportunities because of the hardwork of his parents.
He summed up by saying that success comes from SIKAP, which means Sidhi (Passion), Karunungan (Wisdom), and Pananampalataya (Faith).
