SMCL, Namhae strengthen academic exchange agreement

Eight Michaeleans swapped their learning environment with eight Korean students through the second phase of the Academic Exchange Agreement (AEA) between Saint Michael’s College of Laguna (SMCL) and Gyeongnam Provincial Namhae College (NC), South Korea.

Maria Monica Pulido (BSEd III), Rose S. Lalaguna (BSEd IV), Edna C. Vergara (BSEd IV), Dennessa L. Amador (BSEd IV), Jerica A. Alulod (BSEd IV), Iona Mae T. Zaguirre (BSBA IV), John Kenneth F. Isla (BSHM III), and Jerome Rio S. Villar (BSHM III) flew to South Korea on Sept. 6.

They were immersed in Korean academic life and culture.

Earlier, Yoon Hyun Woo (Gerrard, Electrical Engineering), Lee Jeong Min (Michael, Tourism), Park Dong Hwan (Brad, Civil Engineering), Park Jun Hyun (Jun, Culinary), Jeong Jin (Sopee, Business), Jo Hyeon Mi (Lucy, Computer Information), Shin Ji Hye (Sha-Sha/Natasha, Tourism), and Shin Ji Eun (Anna, Culinary) arrived on July 18.

The Koreans attended languages courses to develop their English communication skills.

Mrs. Elena R. Manalo, Director of AEA, led the team that welcomed the Koreans.

The Namhaeans left the Philippines on Oct. 11, while the Michaeleans returned on Nov. 30.

NC has been sending its students to SMCL for ten years; however, it was only last year when the exchange program was in full swing. (Relisa Marasigan)
