Faculty, students dance to prevent osteoporosis

In its quest for optimum women’s health, Saint Michael’s College of Laguna (SMCL) joined the nationwide campaign against osteoporosis during the Anlene Movement 2008 on Oct. 26 at SM Mall of Asia, Bay City, Pasay.

SMCL administrators, faculty, and selected students were united with members of other institutions and organizations such as the Zonta Club of Laguna, Barangay Health Workers Association of the Philippines, Fitness First, PhilHealth, and the Senior Citizens Associations during the dance celebration themed ‘Lakas Loob’ in association with Fonterra Brand, makers of Anlene Milk.

Launched with a grand dance parade, the program, led by Dina Bonnevie, Pilita Corales, and Pinky Marquez was held in SM Mall of Asia, SM Cebu, and SM City Davao simultaneously via live feed.

The Luzon Cultural Dancers, Cebu Sinulog Festival Dancers and Davao Kadayawan Dancers were also present, each performing their own cultural dance numbers by region.

Soon after delivering the welcome remarks by the organizers of Anlene Movement 2008, the rally on the fight against osteoporosis took place.

Spectators and participating institutions and organizations took part in the said event afterwards during the massive dance performance headed by Choreographer/Dancer/Talent Manager, Geleen Eugenio.

The program was wrapped up with the singing of the official Anlene campaign song, as well as with yet another dance celebration to celebrate good health and wellness.

All throughout the event, free bone scanning and other wellness activities were provided; moreover, free samples and souvenir shirts were also given away to the participants. (Sophia Aleli Beltran)
